S & T Aircraft is currently looking for a Tool Room Machinist to join our Maintenance Team. This is an excellent advanced-level position for those wanting a career in aviation, with plenty of room to grow.
Job Responsibilities:
- Providing support to our aircraft mechanics and assisting engineering with parts fabrication and repair.
- Operation and maintenance of conventional lathe and conventional milling machines.
- Review drawings, instructions, blueprints or samples to ensure accurate production.
- Taking precise measurements for engineering.
- Planning sequence of tasks to complete assignments.
- Maintain a safe and clean workstation.
- Designing jigs and templates as work aids in the fabrication of parts.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Excellent coordination and mechanical skills.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy and safety.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in math.
- Ability to operate non-CNC equipment.
- Comfortable with maintaining tolerances of 0.0005 inches or better.
- Ability to single point on a lathe.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and prints.
- Ability to TIG weld aluminum for repairs is nice but not required.
- Is receptive to learning new machinery and techniques.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to move up to 50lbs.
- Possesses manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately.
- Can wear PPE.
- Comfortable standing for long periods of time.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment and ongoing random drug and alcohol testing.
This is a full-time position with a well-established, family-owned company. Excellent benefits including medical, dental and vision insurance, paid holidays, paid time off, military, medical and family leave.
Job Types: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm with an hour for lunch from 12pm to 1pm.
Pay: $18.00 – $22.00 per hour, based on experience.
In accordance with Federal Regulations APPLICANTS MUST:
- Be able to read, write and speak fluent English.
- Be able to perform simple math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
- Be able to comprehend technical manuals as well as verbal and written instructions.
- Submit to and pass Department of Transportation drug test initially and on a random basis.
- Not have tested positive to a DOT drug test previously. If a previous positive DOT drug test has occurred, the applicant must have completed an approved rehabilitation program.
